FEATURED SONG
AW, YUCKERS!
(from Fun-A-Rooey)

My niece didn’t like what was being served for lunch.  She said,
“Aw, Yuckers!”  I was sorry she was unhappy, but I loved her way of
expressing her displeasure!  I wrote this song to help me and
everyone else get our feelings out in a way that my sister, my niece’s
mom, says is okay.  That is, of course, by saying “Aw, yuckers!”
when things don’t go quite right!

AW, YUCKERS!

words and music by Dave Kinnoin

Aw, yuckers!
Guess I don’t get to play today
Aw, yuckers!
Guess the blues have their way today
I woke up with a pain in my tummy
I don’t like to complain, but I feel crummy
Mama says it’s okay to say
Aw, yuckers!

Aw, yuckers!
Have to clean up my room right now
Aw, yuckers!
Hit my head on the broom--ow!
I fell down with my tush in the cat box
I felt something go “smoosh”
It smells in that box
It’s a wonderful day to say
Aw, yuckers!

Not every dream turns out like it should
Not every reason rhymes
I gotta take the bad with the good
But it makes me mad sometimes!

Aw, yuckers!
I do not want to try this food
Aw, yuckers!
Why does Dad have to buy this food?
If it touches my tongue, I’m gonna throw up
Don’t you think I’m kinda young to have to grow up?
When I don’t get my way, I say
(Everybody)
Aw, yuckers!

3. rhyme
4. aw, yuckers!

Do you know what each of these words means? (Answers at bottom of page)

JOKE OF THE MONTH
My friend got a jigsaw puzzle with fourteen pieces. It took him two weeks to put it together. I said, "It took you two weeks to put that together?" He said, "Yeah, and that's pretty good. Look at the box. It says 'one to two years'!"

GAME OF THE MONTH
How many different facial expressions can you wear when saying "Aw, Yuckers!"?
It's lots of fun to make faces and see the faces everyone else makes.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
”Crunchy Munchies”

Developed by Master Chefs (and kids!) Melody and Heather Schwartz

Take unsweetened crunchy natural peanut butter.  Add as much honey as you like, and some maple syrup to taste.  Roll into little balls.  Or medium sized ones.  Or big ones.  Take some sweetened chocolate powder.  Add just enough milk to make a thick, thick syrup.  If you’ve added too much milk, add extra chocolate powder.  Or else drink it up and start again!  Use a spoon to coat the peanut butter balls with the chocolate syrup.  Or roll the balls in the syrup.  Depends on how much mess you enjoy.  Then, put the whole thing in the freezer. Wait until they are nice and firm…or as long as you can bear.  Then remove and eat.  Make some extras to replace the ones your mother just ate.  (After she asked permission, of course.)

FUN THING TO DO
Go for a hike. If an adult doesn't go with you, make sure you get permission from the adult who's taking care of you, and be sure to follow the safety rules. Notice the plants and animals on your way. Isn't this an amazing world? What do you imagine you see in the clouds? Hiking can be more enjoyable when you have a friend with you, but it's pretty good even if you don't.
